got it, got it, need it, got it. . .

. . .when I was a kid, we used to collect/trade hockey cards.  Some of my friends would have these photo albums filled with ’em – organized by team and/or colour 😉 often times multiple copies grouped together in the photo folder or with an elastic band.

One boy who even suggested we get married and then we would have the biggest and best collection – yes, I count that as my first proposal of marriage  🙂 and my first understanding of a dowry. . .he was after my Gordie Howe rookie card, yes I am already married, the card is long lost and yes the thought that I was carting that around with me kills me to this day.

we would meet in groups and you could always hear someone as they perused another’s collection, “got it, got it, got it, got it, need it. . .”, with the flick of the cards as they sorted a group into piles.  where am I going with this?

Today my collection consists of craft books.  I have a lot of got it’s and very few need it’s. . .I have them on knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting, embroidery, english paper piecing  . .a true cornucopia of inspiration!  Except when I cant find the one I want. . .

Somewhere I have squirreled away a fabulous book Beyond the Square – Crochet Motifs.  Its driving me crazy, I’ve looked among the sewing books, through the home improvement books, through my history books – secret confession time, I like ALL books – i hope I find it, I have a bathroom that needs a rug made with this:
